Spartans fall to the Foresters despite 36 from Johnson

HUNTINGTON, IN – Adrian Johnson led the way for the Spartans in a matchup against the Crossroads League Huntington University Foresters (now 7-1). The Spartans (now 1-2), led by head coach Gerad Good, took a loss against Huntington 103-84. The action took place Saturday, November 24 at Huntington University.

The Spartans shot 51% overall while still scoring 84 points. In the first half after 12 minutes Coach Good's team was down 40-12. In the last 8 minutes, the Spartans outscored the Foresters 26-15. At halftime, the score was 57-36, Foresters. 

To open the second half, the Foresters went on an 11-2 run that spanned the first five minutes. Manchester scored the next 8 points in the next 2 minutes. After that point, the Spartans couldn't cut the deficit by more than 17 points.

Senior captain Adrian Johnson went 15-21 from the field, scoring 36 points – tied for the game-high. Sophomore Cornell Hampton went 5-7 from the field and 1-2 from behind the arc, scoring 15 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Fellow classmate Jalmen Sullivan ended with 11.

Coach Good's crew takes the floor again on Tuesday, November 27 for a tough home-opener against Trine University (3-1). The Spartans will be looking to end their 4-game losing streak against the Thunder.
