The Spartans (7-13 overall, 5-8 HCAC) received double-figure scoring efforts from sophomore guard Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.), senior guard Tyler Alexander (Indianapolis, Ind.) and freshman guard Erik Bell (Evansville, Ind.). Johnson finished with 23 points followed by a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds for Alexander and 14 points for Bell … Alexander, harboring a run of 13 successive games in which he's hit better than 50 percent from the field, has seen his scoring and rebounding averages mushroom over the last three outings, too. The senior is compiling marks of 22.3 points and 9.3 rebounds each appearance during the stretch. With those facts in mind, it's no surprise that he's ranked in the league's top five in scoring (18 ppg – No. 5); rebounds (7.1 pg – T-4th) and field goal percentage (62.7 pct. – No. 3) … Continuing the conference statistics theme, Bell, on a streak of 11 successive games with multiple assists, is third (3.5 pg); Johnson, having at least one takeaway in 11 straight outings, continues to lead the way in steals (2.1 pg) and is 10th in free throw accuracy (81 pct.); and senior guard Chase Casteel (Monrovia, Ind.) is seventh in blocked shots (.8 pg) due to averaging nearly two per game (1.8) over the last six contests.
