Senior guard Tyler Alexander (Indianapolis, Ind.) registered Manchester University's first 30-point-plus individual effort this season highlighting a hard-fought clash with D3Hoops.com No. 13-ranked North Park University Friday, Dec. 30.
Coach Gerad Good's side gave the highly-touted Vikings all they could handle on their home North Park University Gymnasium floor. MU held as large as a five-point first half advantage before NPU answered and rolled out to a 10-point edge in the middle of the second half. The Spartans whittled it down to two (71-69) with four minutes left, but the home team used a 22-15 roll down the stretch to close the 93-84 decision.
Alexander, leading the Spartans (1-9 overall), tallied 30 points on 13-of-18 field goal shooting, including draining a pair of three-point attempts, to go with three assists. He was one of four MU players tallying double digits, as sophomore guard Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) added 15 points and dished off three assists; sophomore guard/forward Evan Romie (Anna, Ohio) scored 14 points and handed out four assists; and freshman guard Erik Bell (Evansville, Ind.) added to the underclassman guard positives with 12 points, a team-high five assists and a pair of steals.
Manchester University's two-game road trip began with a 101-67 loss to National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' Division II No. 12-ranked Bethel College in Mishawaka, Ind., Thursday, Dec. 30. Junior forward Kenny Doss (Chicago, Ill.) came off the bench for a team-leading 14 points and corralled five rebounds, while Johnson turned in 13 points and dished out five assists.
