Spartan Shorts: Coach Gerad Good's squad (10-11 overall, 7-7 HCAC) is ranked among the league's individual statistical top five in five categories. Freshman guard Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) is part of two of the categories, leading the way in steals (1.9 pg) and sitting third in scoring (18.5 pg); sophomore forward/center Enis Becirevic is at the top of the field goal accuracy section, hitting at a sizzling 65.7 percent; senior forward Matt Brown (Hobart, Ind.) is second in three-point conversion rate (51.9 percent); and junior guard Blake Brouwer's (Elkhart, Ind.) .9 blocked shots per contest are third-best … Becirevic's rise to the top in field goal accuracy is due to being at or above 60 percent from the field in 15 of his 21 appearances. The roll continued in MU's most recent contest, as he scored a personal single-game career high 22 points, converting on 10 of 12 field goal attempts, to go with five rebounds and a pair of assists in a hard-fought 78-73 loss at Hanover Feb. 6. The Fort Wayne native, who's seen his points per game average rise nine-tenths (6.8-7.7) over the course of the last four outings, is just the second Black and Gold player to hit double-digit field goal makes in a game this season, as Johnson has done so five times … Looking further into the top individual efforts at Hanover, Johnson ended right behind his underclassman teammate, tallying 19 points to go with team highs in assists (five), rebounds (seven) and steals (six). Brown came off the bench to add his name to the double-digit list (11 points) … AU, with a 96-80 home win included late last month, holds a five-game string in the series. In four of the last eight seasons, it's been a split decision.
