Manchester University opens a set of back-to-back home games Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Spartan Shorts: A recent roll of winning five of the last six games is spotlighted by many factors. Included in those is a scoring average of 81.5 points per contest which is sparked by four players ranging in double figures per outing. Freshman guard Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.), the reigning HCAC Player of the Week, tops the quartet at 18.7 ppg, while senior forward Matt Brown (Hobart, Ind.) is at 13.2 ppg, senior guard Brady Dolezal (Tipton, Ind.)sits at 12.8 ppg, and junior guard Blake Brouwer (Elkhart, Ind.) sports a 10.2 ppg average. MU is also out-rebounding the opposition 35.7-29.5 and hitting better than 50 percent total from the field (52.6), over 40 percent from outside the arc (41.2) and over 70 percent at the charity stripe (73.5) in the span … Sophomore guard Brody Kirby (Frankfort, Ind.) led a quintet of Spartans in the scoring column as part of a 79-75 win over Rose-Hulman Jan. 9 that snapped an eight-game skid in the series against the Fightin' Engineers and marked the program's first victory in Terre Haute since 2010-11. Kirby tossed in 17 points on five-of-eight overall and two-of-three shooting from beyond the arc to go with two assists. He not only led the offensive attack but also clinched the outcome with a pair of free throws with a second left inside Hulbert Arena … Looking further into last weekend's individual efforts, Kirby saw his points-per-game effort go up two at the end of a 36-point week. He rose from 5.5 to 7.5 points per contest. Brouwer narrowly missed a double-double, as he grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to go with his 10-point outing, and Johnson's totals ran his personal double-digit streak to six consecutive outings. From a team perspective, MU's fifth straight 70-points-or-more effort upped its per game effort to a season-best 76.6 … With a season split in the 2014-15 edition, the Spartans hold a 13-10 edge in the series with Bluffton dating back through 2004-05.
