Spartans close two-game road trip at Rose-Hulman

Manchester University's weekly hoops schedule continues Saturday, Feb. 7, with a trip to Rose-Hulman.

Game specifics: Tip-off times are 3 p.m. for the women and 5 p.m. for the men inside R-H's Hulbert Arena … Live audio, statistics and video can be accessed for both contests at www.muspartans.com, the Internet home of Manchester University athletics.

Spartan Shorts: The Black and Gold take a 5-14 overall and 4-9 conference record to Terre Haute Saturday. They're among a tie for eighth on the loop standings with Franklin College, two games separated from Bluffton University for seventh and three short of the top six … Junior guard Brady Dolezal (Tipton, Ind.) came off the bench for a strong 16-point, four-assist effort with both numbers leading MU in a 72-61 defeat at the hands of BU Feb. 4. Sophomore guard Blake Brouwer (Elkhart, Ind.) ended with 12 points. Fellow sophomore guard Chase Casteel (Monrovia, Ind.) narrowly missed a double-double, scoring eight points to go with 11 rebounds … Dolezal tallied scoring double figures for the 15th time in 17 appearances this season with his effort at the Sommer Center on BU's campus, while Casteel saw an eight-game run of double-digit scoring end but did record a career personal single-game high in rebounds … Junior forward Matt Brown (Hobart, Ind.) and Brouwer still have spots on the HCAC's statistical top five through 19 games. Brown is fourth in scoring with a robust 17.3 points-per-game average, while Brouwer's three-point field goal accuracy (44.8 percent) is third-highest. Brouwer is also just out of the range in overall field goal percentage (No. 6 – 54 percent). Other Manchester University top 10 mentions go to Brown (free throw pct. – No. 7 – 83.8); Brouwer (blocked shots – No. 8 - .6 per game); and senior guard Caleb Jackson (New Castle, Ind.) (assists – No. 6 – 3.6 per game) … A 55-54 Fightin' Engineers' last-second win at North Manchester in mid-December is part of a nip-and-tuck series trend over the past 13 contests. Rose-Hulman leads the span 7-6.

Anderson Series: The yearly clashes with league rival Anderson University continue Wednesday, Feb. 11. The women travel to AU's O.C. Lewis Gymnasium, while the men host the Ravens inside Stauffer-Wolfe Arena. Each site features a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
