Spartan Shorts: The Black and Gold opened the 2014-15 HCAC schedule with an 89-50 loss at Defiance College of Ohio Dec. 3. Junior forward Jarod Schrock (Logansport, Ind.) just missed his second double-double of the year, tallying team highs in points (17) and rebounds (eight), while junior guard Brady Dolezal (Tipton, Ind.) continued his roll, earning his 18th double-figure scoring total in his last 19 appearances with 11 points … MU, looking to snap a four-game skid, sports a 1-5 overall and 0-1 league record … The trio of junior forward Matt Brown (Hobart, Ind.), Dolezal and Schrock remain atop the Spartans' scoring column with Brown averaging 14.8 points a game, Dolezal at 12.8 ppg, and Schrock coming in at 11.7 ppg. Schrock's 5.7 rebounds per contest are first, while senior guard Caleb Jackson (New Castle, Ind.) has a team-high 23 assists and four blocked shots. Dolezal leads the steals' list, too, with five … Manchester University holds a 5-3 edge on EC since the Quakers joined the conference. The two sides split last season's results with each winning at home.
