Manchester University resumes its current five-game homestand Thursday, Feb. 6, as Bluffton University pays a visit to North Manchester.

SPARTAN SHORTS: MU, sitting 5-14 overall and 4-8 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, has made the most of its current homestand sporting a 2-1 record. They remain a strong part of the league's postseason tournament picture, trailing Transylvania University by just a game for the sixth place and Franklin College by two games for fifth place with six dates remaining … Sophomore forward Jarod Schrock (Logansport, Ind.) led four Black and Gold players in double figures with 17 points Feb. 1 as part of a 70-66 win over Transylvania. He also blocked two shots to record his fifth multiple-block game of the season … Junior forward Jon Thompson (Rushville, Ind.) and sophomore guard Brady Dolezal (Tipton, Ind.) were right behind Schrock in scoring with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Dolezal increased his run of successive double-figure scoring games to seven … MU's trio of Schrock, freshman guard Blake Brouwer (Elkhart, Ind.) and junior guard Grant Newlin (Muncie, Ind.) highlight the program's rankings on the HCAC statistics report for games played through Feb. 1. Schrock moved up one spot to fifth in blocked shots (.9 per game), while Brouwer and Newlin are just outside the top 10 in three-point accuracy (Brouwer – 11th – 38.8 pct.) and steals (Newlin – 11th – 1.1 pg) … The series with BU has been nip-and-tuck since 2004-05, with MU holding a 12-8 advantage. Dolezal hit a bucket with just over two seconds left to lead the Spartans to a 68-67 road win in the teams' first meeting Jan. 22.
