Big Offense Guides Spartans to Victory at MSJ

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Manchester University baseball team ended its four-game skid in a big way on Friday afternoon.  The Spartans totaled 24 runs on 24 hits en route to a 24-7 victory in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action against Mount St. Joseph.  The second game of Friday's doubleheader was canceled due to the inclement weather in the region.

Every Manchester University starter got at least one hit in the game one victory against the Lions.  The 24 runs scored by MU was a new season high.  So far this spring, the Spartans have score 10 or more runs six times. 

Manchester University scored two or more runs in seven out of nine innings of play this afternoon against the Lions. The Spartans scored three or more times in five consecutive innings.

Braxton Riley went a perfect 5-5 at the plate the plate and scored five times.  Tyler LaFollette also scored five times.  Nick Rush went 4-5 and drove in a game-high six runs.  Rush's RBI total of 39 is a career high and also leads the HCAC.  Hunter Freeman knocked in four runs for the Spartans.

Joe Henschel drove in three runs, while Joe GallatinCollin BiceBrett Kron, and Christian Smith all had two RBI.  

Michael Pinarski hit a triple and Rush, Gallatin, Henschel, and Bice all hit one double.  

Austin Kresl earned his fourth victory on the mound for Manchester.

With the second game of the day canceled, Manchester moved to 4-7 in HCAC play.  MU will travel to Bluffton on Tuesday April 23.  First pitch is at 1 p.m.
