Johnson & Wales Sweeps Manchester on Opening Day

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Manchester Spartans opened the 2019 season with a doubleheader against Johnson & Wales.  The Wildcats topped the Spartans in both contests on Thursday afternoon.

Johnson & Wales 7, Manchester 1

Manchester's bat were held in check to start the season as the Wildcats limited the Spartans to one run on three hits.  Joe Henschel (Huntertown, Ind. / Carroll) drove in the lone run for Manchester.

Opposing pitcher Josh Mousseau was strong on the mound in his 2019 debut, allowing just two hits over eight innings.  Mousseau also struck out eight batters.

Johnson & Wales 8, Manchester 1

The Wildcats jumped out to an early 5-0 and never looked back as Johnson & Wales swept Thursday's doubleheader against the Spartans.

Both Nick Rush (Terre Haute, Ind. / Terre Haute North) and Nick Tillman (Lawrenceburg, Ind. / East Central) went 2-4 at the plate. Rush hit his first home run of the season in the fourth inning.
