Spartan Shorts – Men: Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Brian Cashdollar's program hopes to add to a remarkable run of 19 straight seasons finishing in the league's first five. MU's high-water mark, in the span, occurred three times with runner-up marks in 2004, 2009 and 2010 … The Black and Gold enter the weekend with seven events ranked on the loop performance lists top five. (110-meter high hurdles) held down those spots … Sophomore jumps specialist Austin Roberts (Indianapolis, Ind.) seeks more all-HCAC accolades over the two days to add to his honorable mention honors acquired in 2017.

Women – The three-time defending champions have nine events among the conference's best five regular-season marks according to the Track and Field Results Reporting System. Sophomore distance standout Hannah Wappes (Columbia City, Ind.) holds down three of them, as she has the fastest qualifying times in the 800 and 1500 and is fifth-quickest in the 400. Assistant coach Kaylea Jachno's throwers are poised for impressive point totals with senior Jacey Cauhorn (Kendallville, Ind.) ranking first in the discus; fellow Class of 2018 member Kara Breuckman (Crown Point, Ind.) sitting second in the hammer and joining junior Laina Boggs (Frankfort, Ind.) for a two-three setting in the javelin … Cashdollar's program has been fantastic when it comes to HCAC success. They've been in the first five in each of the league's meets dating back to the first event in 1994 with championships occurring in 2009, 2015, 2016 and 2017 … Seven student-athletes each look for more all-conference awards. Wappes was the Freshman of the Year a year ago; Breuckman, Cauhorn and junior sprinter Dasia Beck (Indianapolis, Ind.) gained second-team honors; and junior sprinters Jade Bollet (Auburn, Ind.) and Brianna Jondle (Elkhart, Ind.) and junior distance runner Samina Qureshi (Columbia City, Ind.) were all honorable mention selectees … Manchester University resumes its 2018 calendar Saturday, May 5, sending individuals to Indiana University's Billy Hayes Invitational.
