Manchester University seeks continued improvement and upwards movement on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III performance lists Saturday, April 8.

Meet details: Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Brian Cashdollar's men's and women's teams are among the roster at the Huntington University Invitational … Events are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. on the Foresters' home venue located behind the Merillat Complex and around the soccer field … It's the Black and Gold's first appearance at HU since 2015. Senior distance runner Mariah Jordan (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and thrower Shay Aator (West Lafayette, Ind.) are returning champions in the 1500 meters and hammer throw, respectively, for the women, while senior sprinter Jarron Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind.) has previous success on HU's track for the men's program after being a member of the 4x100 relay squad that took fifth two years ago.

Spartan Shorts: A combined 14 men's and women's events are within the HCAC 's top five after just one weekend of competition. Four of them sit first, as senior men's distance runner Blake Harris' (Fort Wayne, Ind.) winning time (32:15.37) in the 10,000 at the Hanover College Invitational April 1; senior men's distance runner Alex Gudeman's (Rochester, Ind.) top 10 finish (15:03.35) at the Washington University of Missouri Invitational March 31 in the 5000; Jordan, the reigning conference women's Runner of the Week, and her 5000-meter time (36:29.5) at WashU that was good for fifth; and junior women's thrower Kara Breuckman's (Crown Point, Ind.) javelin toss (106 feet, three inches) at Hanover which was a runner-up mark each stand at the front of the class. Fellow senior women's distance runner Tiffany Harber (Columbia City, Ind.) sits second in the 10,000 (37:45.3) … Looking at the current national list, the Black and Gold have five events among the top 100. Jordan and Harber are fifth and No. 14, respectively, in the women's 10,000; Harris is No. 33 in the men's 10,000; Gudeman is No. 45-fastest in the men's 5000; Breuckman's toss of 144 feet, five inches in the hammer at Hanover ranks 52nd; and junior women's thrower Jacey Cauhorn (Kendallville, Ind.) ranks No. 72 in the discus after a toss of 122 feet, five inches during opening weekend.
