HARROD, OHIO – The underclasswoman duo of sophomore Kaitlin Powers (Indianapolis, Ind.) and freshman Emily Milburn (Lebanon, Ind.) wound up within the individual top 20, while a trio of Manchester University men's golfers ended in the top 30 at the Ohio Northern University Spring Invitational Saturday and Sunday, April 2 and 3.
Powers and Milburn played the Colonial Golfers Club course to twin 156s over the 27-hole event which was shortened due to inclement weather during Saturday's opening round. Freshman Haleigh Fernandez (Selma, Ind.) rounded out the scoring for Coach Tara Boone's crew, carding a 165 to place 29th.
MU's men, turning in a 508 team total that placed them eighth on a tightly-packed leaderboard that left them only seven strokes shy of the top five, had sophomore Spencer Jackson (Greenwood, Ind.), senior Dylan Burns (Hamilton, Ind.) and sophomore Jacob Hopkins (Kokomo, Ind.) wind up in the individual top 30. Hopkins led the trio, ending tied for 24th (126) as Burns placed in a tie for 27th (127), and Jackson wound up tied for tied for 30th (128).
The Black and Gold men's squad continues its spring slate Saturday and Sunday, April 9 and 10 at Hanover College's spring meet. Manchester University's women's team breaks from competition until it hosts its spring event Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17.
