OLIVET, MICH. – A trio of attackers ending in kill double digits lifted Manchester University to a win over Albion College, highlighting a tri-match at Olivet College's Cutler Event Center Saturday, Sept. 9.

Junior right side hitter Haley Duncan,, whose Indiana hometown shares the name of the Spartans' opponent in their first match, battered the Britons to the tune of 16 kills, her fourth match of 10-or-more. Senior outside hitter Ally Roskos (Elkhart, Ind.) was just as tough to solve with 11 kills and just one error in 26 attempts for a meteoric .385 clip, part of a double-double that included 16 digs. Junior middle hitter Hannah Tevis (Royal Center, Ind.) added to the Black and Gold roll with 11 kills and two solo blocks. Freshman setter Lauren Gandhi (Westfield, Ind.) proved valuable to the front line juggernaut, tallying 29 assist that added to a stat line that included 10 digs and three services.

After the four-set win, Coach Bryndon Paulsen's crew got out of the gate fast against the host Comets. They won set one 25-21 due in large part to hitting .206 as a team. However, from that point, it was all Olivet. They claimed 25-15, 25-19 and 25-17 wins to win the match three sets to one.

As daunting as the Spartans' offense was in the opener, it struggled against the home side. Duncan tallied eight kills but hit just .083, while Roskos and Tevis added seven kills apiece. Sophomore outside hitter Emma DeWitt (Brookston, Ind.) and Roskos tried to keep their team in the contest, combining for 24 digs, but Olivet proved nearly impossible to counter committing just seven attack errors in the final three sets.

Manchester University (2-4) continues its 2017 campaign, hosting its annual invitational Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15 and 16.
