Trio looks to improve national list marks

North Central College of Naperville, Ill.'s Gregorian Invitational concludes Manchester University's regular season Wednesday and Thursday, May 17 and 18.

Meet details: Senior women's thrower Shay Aator (West Lafayette, Ind.) competes in the hammer at 12:45 Eastern Standard Time Wednesday. The Spartans' Thursday schedule features sophomore and junior men's sprinters Austin Coughlin (Fairland, Ind.) and Harrison Hollis (Lebanon, Ind.) in the 200 meters; senior men's distance runner Alex Gudeman (Rochester, Ind.) in the 3000 meter steeplechase; senior women's distance runner Mariah Jordan (Fort Wayne, Ind.) in the 1500 and freshman women's middle distance runner Hannah Wappes (Columbia City, Ind.) in the 800 … All competition is set for the Benedetti-Wehrli Track and Field Complex on NCC's campus.

Spartan Shorts: With the announcement of the field for the 2017 NCAA Division III Championships set for Saturday, May 20, three events are ranked within the current Track and Field Results Reporting System's performance list. Jordan is 17th in the 10,000; Aator is 20th in the hammer; and Gudeman, due to a recent roll in which he's clocked back-to-back sub 9:30s, has zoomed up to No. 38 in the steeplechase … The mid-week trip to suburban Chicago is the second in a row for Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Brian Cashdollar's squads. If the first visit is any indication, this week's event could prove very successful, as Gudeman and Wappes registered personal bests and second-fastest times in program history in the steeplechase and 800, respectively, and were equaled by similar resumes from Jordan and senior men's distance runner Blake Harris (Fort Wayne, Ind.) (10,000). Aator and Jordan both claimed top 10 marks, too.
