HUNTINGTON, IND. – Three top two marks led Manchester University at the Huntington University Relays Saturday, April 5.
Freshman Barinem Aator (West Lafayette, Ind.) claimed the hammer throw individual title. Her toss of 37.51 meters defeated the 20-thrower field by nearly three full meters. Aator nearly added a second top five effort, placing sixth in the discus (32.73 meters).
Junior Bridgette Rowe (La Quinta, Calif.), picking up where she left off during the indoor season, started her outdoor campaign with flying colors. Her leap of 36 feet even in the triple jump, good for second in the event, set a new program standard, bettering the previous top mark of 35 feet, 10 inches set by Julie Eichenauer in 1988.
Senior Andrea Keller (Greenville, Ohio) added a runner-up finish in the pole vault. She cleared 2.95 meters.
On the track, freshman Mariah Jordan (Fort Wayne, Ind.) led the way. She was among the top 10 ion the 1500 with her time of 5:01.38 placing ninth. Junior Brianna Martinez (Schererville, Ind.) was just outside placing 11th (5:08.9).
MU finished with 47 points to place seventh in the team standings. Indiana Wesleyan cruised to the championship totaling 254.5 points.
The Black and Gold resume their season Saturday, April 12, at the Indiana State Division III Championships. DePauw University of Greencastle, Ind., is the meet host.
