Christine Johnson was named Manchester University's sixth head coach in August 2016.
The Spartans showed signs of a bright horizon during her first season, as they went 3-3 down the stretch which included a win over Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament qualifier Rose-Hulman. The strong finish guided the program to a combined three student-athletes being named either first team (Courtney Hersick), second team (Maranda Birmingham) or honorable mention (Jaclyn Scialdone) all-conference.
Johnson brings strong credentials to the position. She previously was an assistant at Fresno State University from 2005-09 and held interim head coaching duties during the 2009 campaign; an assistant at Arizona State University from August 2009 to July 2010; and led the Crown City United Soccer Club in San Marino, Calif., from July 2012 to November 2015. Johnson also starred on the pitch for the University of Florida where she was a Soccer Buzz All-American in 2001 as well as being a member of a Southeastern Conference regular season and tournament champion squad in 2001, an SEC tourney champion side in 2004 and an NCAA Division I Final Four participant in 2001. She played professionally for the California Storm and Football Club Bay Area Pride in 2009.
