Spartan Shorts: Manchester University (11-10 overall, 8-6 HCAC), in its most recent outing, scored 19 of the game's first 22 points en route to a 27-12 halftime lead Feb. 8 before Rose-Hulman managed to move as close as seven in the second half as part of a 47-38 HCAC victory. Senior forward Erynn Meiklejohn (Fort Wayne, Ind.) topped the Black and Gold with 13 points which included a pair of three-point buckets. She also blocked two Rose-Hulman shot attempts. Junior center Alyssa Hammond (Osgood, Ind.) added nine points and four rebounds … Meiklejohn registered her eighth multiple-blocked shot and 10th double-figure scoring contest of the year, and junior guard Jocelyn Hamilton (Columbus, Ind.) increased her run of multiple-assist games to 21 with two to share the team lead … The Spartans, winners of three of their last four, took sole possession of fourth in the conference due to the win and a Bluffton University of Ohio loss at Franklin College … Hamilton continues to lead the HCAC in assists, averaging 5.7 pg, while Hammond and Meiklejohn are ninth (.8 pg) and sixth (1.3 pg) in blocked shots on the current statistical report for games played through Feb. 8. Sophomore guard Katie Arterburn (Indianapolis, Ind.) also holds residence in the top 10 of three-point field goal accuracy. Her 38.7 percent rate of accuracy is fifth-highest … The Black and Gold has won five in a row and 15 of the last 19 in the series against the Ravens including an 83-54 final at AU last month.
