The Spartans and Bluffton are a game in front of Earlham and Rose-Hulman for sixth and two behind Franklin for third … A tip-in by junior guard Alyssa Smith (Bluffton, Ind.) in the waning moments proved to be just enough of a difference to lift MU (10-10 overall, 7-6 HCAC) Feb. 6 at Bluffton. Smith, battling in the paint after a missed jump shot from sophomore guard Katie Arterburn (Indianapolis, Ind.), got her fourth rebound and flipped it into the net for a 51-49 Spartans' lead with two seconds remaining. BU got another opportunity on its ensuing possession after a foul was called but could only sink one of the two attempts with less than a second remaining to see the visitors gain the victory. Junior guard Jocelyn Hamilton (Columbus, Ind.) saw her multiple-assist games' string run to 20 with a team-high four at BU. Senior forward Erynn Meiklejohn scored seven (Fort Wayne, Ind.) points to reach the 200-plus mark for the third consecutive year. She also grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds for a personal season single-game high … Three Black and Gold statistical categories rank in the conference's top 10. Hamilton's 5.9 assists per game lead the way, while Arterburn's 38 percent three-point accuracy is sixth, and Meiklejohn (No. 6 – 1.3 pg) and junior center Alyssa Hammond (Osgood, Ind.) (No. 9 - .8 pg) are each in the blocked shots' range … Manchester University has won 12 of the previous 16 meetings against Rose-Hulman which includes a 61-42 December decision in Terre Haute.
