Manchester University freshman pitcher Haley Perez (Portage, Ind.) and senior second baseman Laurren Ladwig (Crown Point, Ind.) earned Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher and Hitter of the Week accolades for the span of April 16-22.
Perez, spotlighting a 2-1 record and one save in a remarkable six-day run, fired 12 scoreless innings to conclude the week. Her coupe de gras was the program's first no-hitter since 2013, as she blanked Hanover College April 21 and struck out two while facing only two hitters over the minimum as part of a 2-0 victory. In the process of back-to-back shutouts against Rose-Hulman and the Panthers, Perez dropped her season earned run average 55 points (2.94-2.39).
Ladwig fueled the critical split against Hanover with a two-run first inning home run, her 16th of the year, which set a new HCAC single-season standard. She finished the week with three hits, two of which were home runs, five RBI, and six runs scored.
