NORTH MANCHESTER, IND.- Despite a near sweep at the three doubles positions, Manchester University narrowly missed a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over visiting foe Anderson University Wednesday, April 16.

Juniors Phil Truitt(Huntington, Ind.) and Alex Winger (Warsaw, Ind.) secured  a win at the two spot over Anderson's Dillion Lockwood and Andrew Gingerich  8-4. Sophomore Matt Buncich (Goshen, Ind.) and freshman Trevor Jones (Connersville, Ind.) followed close behind with their own 8-5 victory in the three seed taking down the Ravens' Ethan Hillman and Eric Beck.

Winger's luck would continue into singles, with his second victory in his last three matches topping Hillman in a quick 6-1, 6-3 four singles decision.  Freshman Stratton Smith (New Palestine, Ind.) showed potential at clinching another singles win, but fell short in a hard fought three set match against his Anderson opponent Drew Lovern 6-1, 0-6, 6-3.

The Spartans make a quick turnaround Thursday, April 17, with yet another home match in a rain make-up against Indiana University-East.  First serve for the men's and women's teams is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
