Earlham holds off Black and Gold charge

NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Junior defender Mark Zinser (Guilford, Ind.) and freshman forward/midfielder Ola Ladapo (London, England) registered a combined four shot attempts, leading Manchester University in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Earlham College Saturday, Oct. 19.

Ladapo also sent one of his tries between the pipes as did senior forward/midfielder Bertin Gisagara (Mishawaka, Ind.) and junior forward/midfielder Ellis Whitt (Bourbon, Ind.) However, Quaker starting goalkeeper Sam Embry was up to the task with three saves and a 90-minute clean sheet.

Earlham, keeping pace in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference by going to 8-7 overall and 4-1 in the league, broke a scoreless tie in the eighth minute. They added two more scores in the second 45 minutes to ice the decision.

MU (1-11-2, 0-5 HCAC) resumes conference play Wednesday, Oct. 23. Bluffton University of Ohio visits Spartan Field for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
