NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Freshman midfielder Matthew Jordan (Zionsville, Ind.) uncorked a pair of shot attempts, leading an eight-shot effort from Manchester University in a 2-0 loss to Transylvania University Saturday, Oct. 12.

Jordan and the Spartans (1-9-2 overall, 0-3 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference), after being out-fired 9-2 in the first half by the Pioneers (8-3-1 overall, 2-1 HCAC), held their own in the second half, only being out-shot 8-6. Despite another strong effort from sophomore goalkeeper Julio Luevano (Aguascalientes, Mexico), TU found the net off a rebound in the first half and via a free kick in the second stanza.

Luevano, in his third start, finished with four saves. His effort occurred in the wake of a 17-8 shots advantage for the visitors.

MU continues league play Tuesday, Oct. 15, with a trip to Defiance College. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
