Spartans stopped in Homecoming 2013 contest

NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Junior forward Loic Youth (Detroit, Mich.) fired off a pair of shot attempts at the Hanover College goal to lead Manchester University's offense in a 2-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic loss Saturday, Oct. 5.

Both of Youth's tries, plus one each from junior defender/midfielder Brian Kautz (Indianapolis, Ind.) and sophomore defender/midfielder Drew Vergonet (Elkhart, Ind.) , were all repelled by Panther goalkeeper Trevor Korfhagen. MU went to sophomore Julio Luevano (Aguascalientes, Mexico) in net for the first time this season with positive results. He kept the visitors out of net in the first 45 minutes and didn't surrender a score until the 62nd minute.

Manchester University (1-7-2, 0-1 HCAC) faces two more conference matches this week. The Black and Gold travel to Franklin College for a 7 p.m. kickoff Wednesday, Oct. 9, and then return to Spartan Field for a home date with Transylvania University Saturday, Oct. 12.
