Balanced scoring attack highlights season opener

BLOOMINGTON, ILL. – Thirteen Manchester University players got into the scoring column Friday, Nov. 15, as the Black and Gold were toppled 89-60 by No. 2-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University.

MU opened on a high note, taking an 11-8 lead at one point. IWU roared back on the heels of a 28-8 run and was off to the races. They upped the advantage to 50-26 at halftime, but the Spartans battled them nearly even steven in the second half, being outscored just 39-34.

Sophomore guard Brady Dolezal (Tipton, Ind.), picking up where he left off from his performance in the exhibition game at Central Michigan Nov. 8, scored a team-high nine points while adding four rebounds and two assists to his totals. Sophomore forward Jarod Schrock (Logansport, Ind.) and freshman guard Chase Casteel (Monrovia, Ind.) added eight points each. Junior guard Silas Sims (Hope, Ind.) led the way on the boards with six rebounds.

Manchester University continues play in the 2013 IWU Beer Nuts Titan Classic Saturday, Nov. 16. They take on Ripon College of Wisconsin in the consolation championship at 6 p.m. EST.
