Nelson nominated for HERO of the Week Award

Senior wide receiver Dakota Nelson (Fairland, Ind.) has been nominated for the Division III football HERO of the Week award, an honor from HERO Sports that recognizes the best NCAA individual performances of the week. The Spartans' offensive standout rushed for one touchdown and threw for another as part of 170 all-purpose yards in a 22-9 win over Anderson University Nov. 11. He set the program's career touchdown mark (34) to help round out MU's best season finish since 2012 (6-4), continue a four-game win streak and allow the Black and Gold to gain the coveted Bronze Ball for the seventh straight campaign and ninth time in last ten years.

The award is determined by fan votes, and the poll closes this Friday at 10 a.m. Pacific (1 p.m. EST).  Votes may be cast once per hour until the deadline, and the winners will be announced Nov. 17.  Nelson is one of 10 student-athletes that have been nominated for this week's D3 Football award.
