Junior shortstop Trevor Kimm (Anderson, Ind.) led a large contingent from the 2014 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference champions on the annual all-HCAC honor teams, released May 13.
Kimm is the third successive and sixth all-time conference Most Valuable Player for the Manchester University program. He helped guide the Spartans to a 26-17 overall record and a second straight HCAC regular season championship. Kimm hit .383 (41-for-107) in conference play and had 28 runs, 30 RBI, seven doubles, five home runs and two stolen bases. He had a .607 slugging percentage and a .459 on-base percentage during league contests. As of May 14, Kimm ranks among the conference leaders in batting average (.347), slugging percentage (.571), runs scored (43), hits (59), home runs (9), RBI (44), total bases (97) and walks (23).
MU head coach Rick Espeset joined Kimm in the special awards. He was honored as the HCAC's Coach of the Year for a sixth time.
The Black and Gold also put freshman first baseman Tailur Szarenski (Bluffton, Ind.), sophomore third baseman Sean Knepper (Bremen, Ind.), junior center fielder Kyle Norris (Indianapolis, Ind.), senior designated hitter Dan Maringer (Fort Wayne, Ind.), and senior pitcher Temujin Sery (Fort Wayne, Ind.) on the first team. Second team selections went out to junior second baseman Logan Hug (Indianapolis, Ind.) and senior pitcher Dylan Padgett (Kirklin, Ind.), while senior relief pitcher Josh Copp (Sharpsville, Ind.) was an honorable mention honoree, and senior right fielder Ryne Lehrman (Hoagland, Ind.) was placed on the Sportsmanship squad. A trio of Spartans (Kimm, Norris and Padgett) each earned all-league recognition for a second time in their careers.
