CINCINNATI, OHIO – Four players registered multiple-hit contests, and junior starting pitcher Sean Liedtky (Walkerton, Ind.) provided seven solid innings of work, as Manchester University topped the College of Mt. St. Joseph 13-2 Saturday, April 19.
Liedtky, evening his record at 3-3, kept the Lions off balance at Marge Schott Stadium with five strikeouts and only nine hits allowed in his stint. He received more than enough of an offensive attack throughout the afternoon.
Senior designated hitter Dan Maringer (Fort Wayne, Ind.) drilled an RBI single and later scored on a double-steal with junior outfielder Kyle Norris (Indianapolis, Ind.) for a 2-0 lead after a half inning. MSJ (11-18-1 overall, 6-12 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) got a run back in the first, but the Spartans (20-11, 14-4 HCAC) added eight runs over the third through fifth innings to break it open.
Maringer led the multiple-hit quarter, with three safeties and two RBIs. Junior second baseman Logan Hug (Indianapolis, ind.), junior shortstop Trevor Kimm (Anderson, Ind.) and junior outfielder Justin Miller (Yorktown, Ind.) each clouted two hits. Kimm added three runs to his total.
